One thing fans can expect from the live-action version is a longer run time. While the original animated movie ran for 83 minutes, the new film has a runtime of 2 hours and 15 minutes. (Polygon) It is speculated that this longer run time may be due to the addition of new scenes and songs.

Despite the concerns of some fans, “The Little Mermaid” continues to generate buzz leading up to its release. The film features a star-studded cast, including Bailey, McCarthy, Jonah Hauer-King, and Javier Bardem. (Vulture)
