Smokey Robinson

Smokey Robinson, one of the greatest triple-threats in music history, is set to release his first solo studio album in nearly a decade (People). The new album, titled “GASMS,” will feature nine new tracks (Goldmine Magazine). Robinson’s musical career has been a storied one, characterized by his work with The Miracles and his success as both a performer and producer (CBS News). Robinson has won multiple awards, including the Grammy Living Legend Award, Kennedy Center Honors and the National Medal of Arts Award. Rolling Stone reports that “GASMS” will mark Robinson’s first album of all-new material since 2009.

At 83, Smokey Robinson shows no signs of slowing down. He has a 2023 tour with 12 shows scheduled, and tickets are available for all of them (New York Post). Robinson will be performing live at UAB’s Alys Stephens Center on April 21 (UAB). In addition to his music career, Robinson was named the Recording Academy’s MusiCares Person of the Year in 2023 for his philanthropic work.

Robinson is set to make an appearance on American Idol season 21 episode 13 (Sportskeeda). He was born and raised in Detroit, Michigan, and helped cement that city’s reputation as the birthplace of Motown (Sportskeeda).
