Kyle Busch Claims Second Victory in Talladega Cup Series Race
Talladega Superspeedway โ Kyle Busch won his second race of the Cup Series season on Sunday in the GEICO 500 at Talladega Superspeedway. The race ended in NASCAR Overtime, with Busch outlasting the field after receiving a timely inside push from his team (NASCAR.com).
Blaine Perkins was involved in a serious crash on Saturday during the Xfinity race at Talladega. His car rolled six times, but he was able to climb out of it on his own and was taken to a hospital for treatment (NASCAR on NBC Sports).
Denny Hamlin took the pole position, his first of the season, and Blaney started third. The race featured a collision on the final lap between Bubba Wallace and Ryan Blaney, which prevented them both from winning, as they were both outside Victory Lane (NASCAR.com).
The Talladega race has always been known for its unpredictability and high speeds. Talladega is a 2.66-mile track, the largest NASCAR oval, and has steep banking in its turns, which allows for high speeds and tight racing (Motorsport.com).
The ARCA Menards Series Race also took place over the weekend, with Jesse Love winning in a Toyota sponsored by Yahoo. Love completed 76 laps and won by a margin of 0.129 seconds over Gus Dean, driver of the Dean Custom Air Toyota (ARCA).
The next Cup Series race will be held on May 1 at Kansas Speedway. NASCAR fans can tune into the race on Fox Sports and NBC Sports with live streaming options available online (MassLive.com).
