In a viral video circulating the internet, former Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) fighter Nate Diaz was involved in a street fight in New Orleans on Friday night. According to CBS Sports, Diaz was caught choking someone out during the altercation. In the video, Diaz is seen holding the man in a chokehold until he passes out. While the identity of the man is unclear, Spanish publication Marca speculates that it could be YouTuber Logan Paul.
Diaz was attending a Misfits Boxing event at the time of the incident, as reported by USA Today. The publication further stated that Diaz ignited a physical altercation at the event, which then spilled out into the streets. The New York Post also reported that Diaz was filmed choking out a man in a New Orleans street brawl.
The incident has sparked reactions from various personalities, including UFC’s Dana White, Conor McGregor, as well as Jake and Logan Paul, according to Yahoo Sports. The two Paul brothers even released a video mocking Diaz’s street fight altercation in what they described as a “self-defense” video, as reported by MMA Fighting.
This isn’t the first time Diaz has been involved in a public altercation. In 2016, Diaz was involved in a post-fight brawl with McGregor during a press conference, resulting in both fighters receiving fines and suspensions from the Nevada State Athletic Commission, as noted by TMZ.
Despite no longer fighting under the UFC banner, Diaz remains a popular figure in the mixed martial arts community. His last fight was in 2019, where he lost to Jorge Masvidal in a bout that was deemed the “BMF” belt, an unofficial title for the “baddest motherf***er” in the game, as reported by Bleacher Report.
As of now, it’s unclear whether Diaz will face any legal repercussions for his involvement in the New Orleans street fight. Diaz, known for his no-nonsense personality, has yet to comment on the incident publicly.
