New York Knicks’ star forward Julius Randle missed Game 1 of the team’s second-round series against the Miami Heat due to an ankle sprain (The Athletic). Earlier, Knicks’ coach Tom Thibodeau had expressed hope that Randle would be able to play in Game 1 (Bleacher Report). However, Randle was eventually ruled out of the game (CBS Sports). As a result, Obi Toppin made the first postseason start of his NBA career, as he filled in for the injured Randle (New York Post). The Knicks ultimately lost 108-101 to Miami in Game 1 of the Eastern Conference semifinals (NBA.com).
