Arnold Schwarzenegger Takes Matters into His Own Hands: From Potholes to Politics

Arnold Schwarzenegger made headlines recently when he took matters into his own hands by filling a “giant pothole” in Los Angeles that was damaging cars and bicycles (Autojosh, 13 hours ago). The former California governor picked up a shovel and filled the service trench that had been temporarily covered with asphalt by the Southern California Gas Co. (NBC News, 2 weeks ago; NPR, 2 weeks ago). City officials later clarified that the utility trench needed to be replaced with a permanent surface (NPR, 2 weeks ago).

Schwarzenegger, who is no stranger to taking action, has also been making headlines for his recent political commentary. In an exclusive interview with CNN, he warned the GOP against renominating former President Donald Trump in 2024, arguing that doing so would lead the party “deeper and deeper” into electoral obscurity (NowThis News, 1 day ago). Schwarzenegger, an outspoken critic of hate and antisemitism, blamed his father and millions of others for being “sucked into a hate system” by lies (CNN, 1 day ago).

The former governor continues to maintain ties with the entertainment industry as well. He recently reunited with his friend and former co-star Danny DeVito during a sketch at the White House Correspondents’ Association dinner (Key West Citizen, 42 mins ago). The pair last appeared together in the 1988 film “Twins.”

Outside of his political and entertainment pursuits, Schwarzenegger remains active in his personal life. The 75-year-old recently introduced his newest pet, a pig named Schnelly Schwarzenegger, who will join his collection of animals at home (Hindustan Times, 21 hours ago).
