The Colorado Avalanche have been recently dealt a series of setbacks as they compete in the NHL playoffs. Defenseman Cale Makar has been suspended for one game by the Department of Player Safety due to an interference call during a recent game against the Seattle Kraken. Makar will have a hearing with the NHL on Tuesday (sportsnaut.com).
The Avs also suffered a loss against the Kraken, with a final score of 2-3 during Game 4 of the playoffs (vavel.com). Prior to the game, it was reported that Valeri Nichushkin, a forward for the Avalanche, had left the team for personal reasons and that there is no timeline set for his return to the postseason (The Denver Gazette).
In a press conference, Avalanche coach Jared Bednar discussed Nichushkin’s situation and also shared insight into the team’s penalty kill strategy (Colorado Hockey Now). Despite Nichushkin’s absence, the team remains focused and determined to win their first-round series against the Kraken (The Seattle Times).
In addition to Makar’s suspension and Nichushkin’s absence, investors have given Avalanche a weak long-term technical score of 27 (InvestorsObserver). However, the Avalanche still have the ability to turn things around and come out victorious.
