Morgan Wallen

Country singer Morgan Wallen has been facing legal troubles after canceling his concert in Mississippi on Sunday night (WTVA). A fan of Wallen, Brandi Burcham, filed a lawsuit against him over the canceled show (Vulture). However, her lawsuit was voluntarily dismissed on Tuesday morning (WLBT). Despite this, another fan filed a lawsuit against Wallen, claiming he was too drunk to perform (Taste of Country). Wallen’s label CEO, Seth England, refuted this claim and called the rumors “nowhere close to true” (Billboard).

Wallen’s canceled concert disappointed thousands of fans who had waited hours for him to take the stage at Vaught Hemingway Stadium (The Tennessean). The cancellation was explained as a result of unforeseen and unavoidable circumstances (The Tennessean). Nevertheless, a video of a security guard at the venue went viral and sparked rumors about the reason for the cancellation (Billboard). Wallen’s event security company addressed the guard’s claims and stated that Wallen was not drunk ahead of the concert (Us Weekly).

This is not the first time Wallen has faced backlash. In February 2021, Wallen was caught on camera using a racial slur, which prompted widespread condemnation from the country music industry (The Independent). Wallen apologized for his behavior and announced that he would be stepping away from the public eye for a while (The Independent).

Despite the controversies, Wallen remains a popular country singer with a loyal fan base. He recently performed at the ACM Awards and received three nominations (Rolling Stone). Fans who missed his canceled Mississippi show sent him an itemized list of expenses, indicating how much they had spent on tickets, travel, and accommodations (The Independent).

While Wallen’s legal troubles over his canceled concert and the rumors about his alleged behavior may affect his reputation, it remains to be seen how they will impact his career in the long term.
