Snowfall Sweeps Across the World: From India to Wisconsin
Over the past month, snowfall has been making headlines across the world. From the Midwest of the United States to the northernmost region of India, the winter weather seems to be sticking around longer than expected.
Last week, a storm system swept through western Wisconsin, dropping more than a foot of snow in some areas (Spectrum News). The snow storm was unexpected and caught many residents off guard (Lewistown News-Argus). In fact, one town in Montana reported receiving up to 18 inches of snowfall (Lewistown News-Argus). While the snow may have been a hassle for some, it was a welcome sight for others who were missing the winter weather (Dakota News Now).
Snowfall was also seen in Himachal Pradesh, India recently, with Rohtang Pass receiving fresh snowfall on April 19 (The Economic Times). The hills in the Kullu district were blanketed in a layer of white, making for a picturesque scene for tourists visiting the area.
Meanwhile, in the United States, New York City saw significant snowfall in late February, with all boroughs receiving at least some accumulation (NY1). A month later, a rare snowfall hit parts of Southern California, leaving many residents stranded (ABC News). Dramatic photos showed areas that are more accustomed to warmth and sun being buried in snow (USA Today).
Despite the inconvenience that snow can cause for some people, the season finale of Snowfall, the television drama about the 1980s crack epidemic in Los Angeles, was highly anticipated (Hindustan Times). Viewers were left with mixed emotions as the curtains closed on the sixth and final season of the show (Hindustan Times).
While spring may have technically begun, it seems that winter weather is still lingering in many parts of the world, bringing with it both beauty and challenges.
