Arcturus Covid variant

As the Covid-19 pandemic continues, a new variant of the virus has emerged that is causing concern around the world. Dubbed “Arcturus” or XBB.1.16, this variant is believed to be behind a surge in cases in many countries, including the US, Singapore, and Australia, among others (Hindustan Times). It has been declared as the most transmissible variant till date and is a subvariant of the Omicron variant (Daily Mail).

One of the concerning aspects of the Arcturus variant is that it appears to have a new symptom that has not been seen in previous versions of the virus. NBC New York reports that an itchy rash may be a sign of infection with the Arcturus variant. However, it is important to note that much is still unknown about this new variant, and more research is needed to determine its full effects.

India has been hit particularly hard by the Arcturus variant, with a more transmissible subvariant being blamed for the surge in Covid-19 cases in the country (The National News). According to Indiatimes.com, over 10,000 Covid cases were reported in the country due to this new variant. The World Health Organization has been closely monitoring the situation and has issued updates on the spread of the Arcturus variant (CTV News).

As always, experts are urging the public to take precautions to protect themselves and others from infection, including getting vaccinated, wearing masks, and practicing social distancing. With the emergence of this new variant, it is more important than ever to remain vigilant and to follow guidelines from public health officials to help slow the spread of the virus.
